Ok so I did the math and figured out my last 3.1 miles of my half marathon is 1 minute FASTER than my last 5K time. Isn't that amazing? Ok now I'm proud of myself.
4th of July 5K 27:06
Last 3.1 Cowtown: 26:07
THATS THE END OF MY HALF MARATHON!
I can't believe that two months ago I was dying during my 5K and yesterday... well yesterday was 9 months of hard work payed off... 2 more months to go til the CIM
I guess the speed work is working

Maybe better weather played a role but certainly running a 5K of a much longer race faster than a standalone 5K is something to be proud of. Good job!!!
Wow! You shaved off a minute?? That's like running 33 seconds faster for each mile. GREAT job!! ;-)
I do think the weather had a lot to do with it. 4th of July was the ONLY morning all summer to not have the smoke too bad to run, and I wasn't feeling all that great that day either.
That was right around the time I started the 10K program and 2 speed workouts a week, in combo with all the extra miles I've been running worked out to a GREAT half marathon.
Speed work really sucks, but I swear it works. I need to do it even more!
