Ran a bunch yesterday

What started out as a 2-3 mile run turned into a 5.7 mile run.Wind was awful but that last 1.7 I really pushed it, face into the wind and all. I didn't really time myself, well I didn't stop the watch when I ran by the house for some water but from start to school where I stopped was 1hour 3 minutes. Not too bad. Okie dokie, no running today, Blondy has a sleep diagnositc test in Sac tonight so we're hittin the road right after school. I should be running with my 30 and older running club partner Laura. You will find it really funny that I have been 30 not even a month and she's been 30 for like 10 days. We're milkin' it, I know.

BBF is doing great on her running too. She got a runnin' buddy and a runnin dog to help her train out there in Vacaville. Someday we'll get to train together. Since really, as fast as time flies, December and the CIM will be here before we know it.

Where is Margaritaville again?

Last night after a fabulous 7 year old's birthday party FFP, the boys and I stuck around the doc and his wife's house with some new friends to visit and of course Doc makes the best 'Rita's ever made, big honking lovely margaritas that you don't realize how potent they are til you stand and try to do something. I had not one but two of these Dr. D's delicious 'Ritas last night and paying the price today. i talked to the doc about my Uncles stomach cancer and if he thought it should be removed and he gave me that doctors perspective I was hoping to from a friend with his expertise. We are so blessed to have them in our lives. Anyhow I was up late mulling over in my head if I should give Aunt and Uncle this information and decided that although they are content with the treatment they are receiving at their local hospital, having additional resources, if they needed them, was better than not having them at all. I spend the better part of a long night running a marathon in my head, woke up this morning like I had run one last night.

As for actual running today. Made it to one mile a bit late and with a slow start this morning with Laura, I think she dragged me along this morning, I couldn't even keep in my lane, ...um side of the trail. Just two miles today. I hope to run 4 tomorrow and how ever far she wants to run Tuesday morning. I hope Saturday can be a long run, I'd like to do six miles.

Food: seriously thinking of taking the Paleo diet approach to eating maybe to both improve my overall health and as an athlete. No grains, no dairy. Hmmm I know others who have used it but I am so reluctant to give up my cheese, Chai and oatmeal that I'm continuing to be in denial and reluctant to actually read the book through. I have taken passages out of context and liked what I have read so far. Today I have had a Venti Honey Latte with extra Honey. LOTTA MILK and 430 calories. I blame the FFP!

a party for two

Lysa had to back out of our running party yesterday so it was just Laura and I hitting the trails for our "regular" run. Actually they are becoming pretty regular and I'm lovin' it. We did the now standard 3 miles with a bit of a push on my part on the way back. We talked about her club membership to the 30 club which she joined on Tuesday. We did better time than we had before and the time seems to be going by more quickly for us both. We just fell into this easy pace and keep up the conversation and talk about things we haven't had the chance to talk about in forever. High School seems like a million years ago, well it was about 12 years ago for us anyway. I'm glad I have someone to run with here and I'm happier that my BFF found a running partner in Vacaville to run with too.

Blondy's joke today is "What does a train sound like when its eating? Choo, chooing!"

Running PARTY

I but out a bulletin out on my "My Space" page asking who might want to run with Laura and I on Wednesday. Lysa emailed back that she wants to come too. We have 3 more days, and maybe some more people who might want to run too. (This is an invite to those in the Chico area.... 12noon at 1mile, Manzanita side parking lot). We'll be running about 2-3 miles and at an easy pace. We did pretty good Saturday morning even with the headlamps but it will be nice to run around in the light of day too. I can't wait. I need the motivation of others to keep me running in that direction. Now if I could just run on Saturday mornings with Chico Running Club but I don't see that in my near future with Hollywood's baseball and FFP's work schedule.

I ate awful today, a small bowl of special K red berry, two cups of tea with a teaspoon honey and 1/4 cup milk, no lunch since the migraine made me nauseous. a tamale from Costco for dinner with water and 3 ibuprofen and 1 maxalt. I should have not had two pieces of pizza yesterday or the 3 bites of yummy cake at the wedding last night. Thank goodness no soda today. of course now that I typed that its all I can think about.

3miles

In the dark at 6am with Laura again today. I talked to whole way but it went by fast. We did about 3 miles, I'll have to check on the Buckeyeoutdoor.com site to see for sure, we may have gone over a tad bit. Since we went farther I didn't make her go faster. LOL. We got nifty headlamps to wear running in those pre-dawn hours but the cars lights on the road next to the path are murderous. We can't see a thing in front of us which doesn't matter since we've been blinded. That only lasts for the first few minutes though then the path goes off into the wooded area more. I love running in the morning although I was DRAGGING and cranky last night from not eating enough and being tired. I do feel GREAT after two good morning runs and the run we'll be taking Wed. during the day. That day is also Wyatt's first Little League Farm Baseball game. I love to watch him play, he has improved so much!

Morning run

After bouncing back and forth deciding when we could run, my friend Laura and I finally decided on this morning at 6am. I didn't realize it would still be dark. I got up ate a banana chugged a few oz of water and met her in those predawn hours for a 2 mile run before she had to go to work. It had been so long since we had actually spent time together, I had forgotten what a sweet and funny girl she is. We talked about our goals for running and although I'm a bit ahead on training than her because of the half I did in March I think we can still train together and be in great shape for CIM in December. Maybe she'll want to do Cowtown with me in October. She's doing the HOT half in upper park but I am definitely a road and easy trail runner rather than a hilly fall on your face, Upper park runner although I know I need to work in hills for training soon.

Anyway, we had to slow down a bit since we didn't have headlamps to watch where we were going but in general we had a nice relaxing two miles, built up a sweat and I can't wait to do it again. The only thing I was worried about were strange people out at the park and that two of us just didn't seem like enough, anyone who might be interested in running with us let me know. Chico is a great town for running! With summer coming (those +100 degree days) early morning runs will become a necessity.
